2005 Griffith Tournament
SSSC sent 4 teams to the Tournament this year. Senior and Junior teams competed in Kabaddi and Soccer. Although none of our teams were at full strength they all put in spirited performances... Look in the Photo Gallery for heaps of Soccer and Kabaddi Photos from the tournament coming soon!!! Thanks to Sundeep Shergill for taking them.
Kabaddi Photos - Griffith 2005
Senior Soccer won the final beating Sydney 3 - 1. It was the first tournament the boys have won in a while and we all hope that this winning form will carry through to the Sydney 2006 National tournament. To beat the old rivals without a number of key players (Pargy, Jag Canada, Dally, Rohit and more) was defintley a confidence booster. A number of juniors played in the senior team. Biki (Bittu's son), Baldeep and Jagjot all played very well and were a major part of the victory.

Junior Soccer did well to make it to the final of their competition. In the end they went down down to the hosts Griffith in a penalty shoot out. The game had finished locked at 3-3. It was a strong performance from our team and the loss will surely fire them up for their defence of the National Games Trophy next year.
Senior Kabaddi gave a spirited performance. With the two main raiders Mandeep Johal and Hardip Bassi on the sidelines the team performed well pulling off a win against New Zealand. Kuldip Bassi made a come back and it was an overall good performance. Ranveer Gill had an excellent tournament making many stops and winning points raiding as well. He is definitely one to watch in the future. Sundeep also played well and Johal perfomed the role of main raider. The boys will bounce back from this tournament and with team at full strength they will be tough to beat by anyone. Sydney Revesby won the tournament by 1/2 a point over Punjabi Sports Club Melbourne.
The Junior Kabaddi team (U 15) played a game against children from all over Australia. It was a good fun game enjoyed by the spectators. Unfortunately our boys lost. Navpreet was the standout player raiding and stopping.
